Starting SoonFirst Lego League Competition Robotics (6th Grade)EnrichmentJoin us for an exciting journey into the world of robotics with FIRST LEGO League (FLL). This hands-on course focuses on STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics - encouraging young learners to explore these fields in a fun and engaging way. This year's theme, Bioglow, invites students to explore our Earth. Nothing on Earth thrives alone. With STEM as their tool and nature as inspiration, today's boldest innovators are finding new ways to strengthen the conn cations that protect our shared home. Participants will form team of eight to design, build, and program a robots using LEGO Spike technology. Beyond robotics, teams will collaborate on a "challenge" project that tackles a real-world problem, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork. Participants will get comfortable with public speaking during the competition with two presentations, one on their challenge project and one on their robot design. Ideal for young innovators eager to develop problem-solving skills and work collaboratively, this course is perfect for anyone ready to explore STEM through hands-on learning and friendly competition. Guitar, Bass Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin,or Ukulele: Beginner, Intermediate, or Beyond/Ages 6 /AdultEnrichmentIs learning to play the guitar, bass guitar, mandolin or banjo on your bucket list? This is your chance without making a big investment. Learn from the comfort of your home. The lessons are a virtual Zoom group lesson.The registration covers 3, 30 minute intro sessions for $21. Lessons will be scheduled with the instructor upon registration. Please note the lessons are offered currently either Wednesday 5:30 or Thursday 5:30. Introduction to International Chess (all ages)EnrichmentChess embodies Art, Science and Sport. Challenge Yourself, Meet New Friends, Reduce Stress and Learn Strategy and Pattern Recognition. The class will be taught by Mr. Long Chen who has placed in the top 3 in Chess tournaments in Laredo TX, St. Cloud MN and Berlin Germany since age nine. His current USCF regular rating is 1965. Each Chess Session is 1 hour long. The first 45 minutes are used to teach the fundamentals, tactics and chess puzzles. The final 15 minutes is reserved for casual play and/or discussion. Robotics VEX IQ (Grades 3-5)EnrichmentSartell-St. Stephen Sabre Robotics VEX IQ gives students in grades 3–5 the opportunity to collaborate in small teams of 3–5 students as they design, build, program, and test a competition robot. Participants will develop engineering, problem-solving, programming, and teamwork skills while preparing to compete in VEX IQ robotics competitions. Registration is limited to 24 students.
